Get ready for the 2008 Festival!

Plans are well underway for the 2008 Dragon Flies Dragon Boat Festival. This exciting and popular event is now in its fourth year of being presented on the shores of Lake Scugog in Port Perry.

Join hundreds of participants and other festival patrons as we all have a blast raising awareness of Breast Cancer, local support programs and funds for the four local hospitals, Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, Uxbridge Cottage Hospital, and the Durham Regional Cancer Centre in Oshawa.

Now that was a great day!
Pledges and donations from the 2007 festival totaled more than $132,000! Thousands of participants, visitors, and volunteers were part of the on-going quest to promote breast cancer awareness throughout the local area. With the peer support of the Port Perry Rotary Club, Ontario Trillium Foundation, and the Great Blue Heron Charity Casino, 48 teams involving more than 1200 paddlers competed in various divisions.

Winning teams included: Cyclones Dragon Boat Team, NRG Dragon Boat Team, Fire Dragons, Canterbury Silver Dragons, SnapDragons, Pat Mariners, and Hurry Hard.

Many thanks to all!
Our 2007 festival received an astounding amount of support and encouragement from a wide range of people.

Roughly 90 volunteers dedicated their time and energy before, during and after the event to make sure it went as smoothly as possible.

Many local businesses donated their services or product as a contribution to the festival.

Thousands of people participated in our festival this year! Some were paddlers, drummers and steerpersons while others were friends, family members and those simply enjoying the excitement of the day, showing their support for breast cancer awareness, diagnosis and treatment.

Whoever you are, however you contributed - Thank you!
